Getting started

Add your first client and identifiers

Create a client record in ThynkTax with PAN, GSTIN, CIN, TAN - and how identifiers feed into every downstream module.

Add your first client and identifiers

A client in ThynkTax is the legal entity (person, firm, company, LLP, trust) whose tax compliance you handle. Each client has one canonical record with all their identifiers.

Create a client

Clients → Add client

Fill in:

  • Entity type - Individual / HUF / Firm / LLP / Company (Private/Public) / Trust / AOP / BOI / Body of Individuals / Co-operative
  • Legal name - exactly as on the entity's PAN
  • Trade name (if different)
  • Contact person, email, phone

Add identifiers

Each client has one PAN plus zero or more of:

  • GSTINs - for entities registered under GST (one per state of registration)
  • CIN - for companies (assigned by MCA)
  • DIN - director identification (for individuals on company boards)
  • TAN - tax-deduction account number (for entities deducting TDS)
  • UAN / UCN / Establishment Code - for PF/ESI compliance
  • Udyam - MSME registration

Why identifiers matter: every downstream module uses these for portal connectivity. Without a TAN, the TDS module can't generate FVU files. Without a CIN, the ROC module can't pre-fill AOC-4.

Bulk import

For practices migrating from Tally / Winman / ClearTax:

Clients → Import → CSV / Excel

We provide a template with all the required columns. Drag & drop the file; we'll show you a preview before committing. Conflicts (duplicate PAN) are flagged for review.

What happens next

Once a client is added:

  1. They appear in the client picker on every module page (GST, ITR, TDS, ROC, ESI/PF).
  2. The Compliance Calendar auto-generates deadlines based on the entity type.
  3. Any agent action (validation, reconciliation, filing) on the client is logged against this client record.
