What is an HSN code?
HSN stands for Harmonised System of Nomenclature - a globally standardised 6-digit classification system for goods developed by the World Customs Organization (WCO). India extends this to 8 digits for GST purposes.
Under GST, HSN codes must be mentioned in tax invoices. The number of digits required depends on your annual turnover: 2-digit for below ₹1.5 crore, 4-digit for ₹1.5-5 crore, and 6-digit for above ₹5 crore.
